A set of fast play rules for warfare in modern African countries. They provide an enjoyable game in a couple of hours and have a random unit appearnace system that lends itself well to a club game.

Where To Obtain The Rules

The rules are obtainable via the Peter Pig website or any web shop that may carry their ranges (try a search engine for your local supplier)

Chinese Africans ?

Ok, so I’ve told you that AK47 is a set of rules for modern era African wars, so what force have I been collecting ? Well, at the club one of the guys runs a variant based in the Russian Civil War that has become quite popular. So I thought to myself, which force do I want to collect? Rather than double up on existing figures I thought I’d go for something a bit different so I ended up with Chinese. Now Chinese armies of the 1920’s are something I never knew much about until I started looking into things…

After the collapse of Imperial China in 1916 the country split into regions, each ran & controlled by a local warlord (hence the name of the period – Warlord Era China) These warlords ran China until 1928 when the Communists wrestled control from the them.

During this period there were numerous wars every year between feuding warlords. These groups or cliques as they were know, hired Russians who were fleeing the civil war and fielded them in their own armies. Because of this I can field full Chinese armies or alternatively include Russian units as well.

The only range of figures for this era in 15mm was made by QRF (now LKM) The range is certainly not complete but covers the main units plus some of the colourful characters involved. The following pictures are a small selection of my figures, the staff car and field gun are from Peter Pig (the crew are British painted to represent Chinese). Luckily I purchased a fair few of the figures before they stopped production of them.

Infantry
Machine Guns
Armoured Car
Staff Officers
Cavalry
Field Gun

Peter Pig - Manufacturers site. They really do produce some fun games systems.
Alan Millicheaps Website- The only other person who I`ve found that plays 15mm Chinese Warlord games.
Copplestone Castings- Ok, they`re 28mm scale rather than 15mm but the Back of Beyond range is set in the same era.
