Warmaster Historical - English Civil War
Skirmishers: Units of musketeers can include upto one stand of skirmishers. The removal of a skirmisher stand from a unit doesn`t count towards the command penalties for that unit. Pike: Pike units count the same as Empire halberdiers for combat purposes. However, they may count an extra rank when working out combat results. They may only charge in a column formation. Peasants: A unit of peasants suffers an additional -1 Command penalty when given an order. This penalty is ignored if the unit is part of a brigade, which contains units other than Peasants. Peasants are not allowed to use Initiative to charge though they are allowed to evade as usual. When they do charge they receive no bonus Attack Modifier for doing so. Cannons: Treat defended as in the open and fortified as defended. Unless stand and shooting, it ignores armour and stands 5cm from the end of the target are hit with an attack. Can`t charge on initiative. OPTIONSParliament +10 One unit of troopers can be upgraded to Cromwell`s Ironsides. They may reroll one unsuccessful Attack dice each combat round. Royalist +10 One unit of troopers can be upgraded to Prince Rupert`s Horse. They add a +1 bonus to the attack value of one stand. Note that this gives +1 Attack in total, not to each stand. FORMATIONS Traditionally the foot units were formed either into units of the same sort of weaponry or into units which comprised 2/3rd musketry to 1/3rd pike. The easiest way to simulate this is to limit brigade sizes to 3 units maximum and to only permit the above formations. |
