THE
REPORT
A
6 foot x 4 foot table is set out with an urban setting on one end of
the table and the other end empty apart for a military base and some
scrub land. Search crates are scattered throughout the board (I used
twelve in my game)

Humans
begin the game along one of the long table edges with the zombies entering
from the other long edge. In the full game there were 16 human figures,
all in pairs, consisting of SWAT troopers, medical staff, kids, NBC
troopers, TV crew, cops, city workers and hunter types. All figures
are unarmed at the start of the game. All vehicles, except the helicopter,
are unusable.
On
the initial turns the humans headed towards the various crates that
were close to hand. Various useful and non useful items were found,
ranging from frying pans to rifles and LAW rocket launchers to lawn
mowers. Armed with whatever they could find the humans headed deeper
into the city. A slow moving tide was edging towards them, moans could
be heard from along the street and the occasional 'brrrraaaaiiiinnnsss'
The dead were walking!

Meanwhile,
at the military base the brave SWAT troopers decided it would be a good
idea to hide out in the helicopter. Of course, not having any means
to start it was a bit of a disadvantage but they didn't seem to worry
about the figures creeping closer...
Meanwhile
back in the city, the other humans took some long ranged shots at the
closest zombies with various degrees of success. Shotguns, rifles and
pistols all hit targets. The LAW ran out of ammo though. The dead moved
closer.
Frantically
the humans rushed for more crates to try and tool up. Some success,
first aid kits were found and one of the kids found a sports drink.
Knocking it back she sprinted across the street. At this point one of
the zombies turned out to be some horrid genetic weapon that leaped
towards the largest group of humans. Hits were made by dead hands, the
worst immediately infecting the nurse and turning her into another walking
corpse.

The
NBC troopers now fully tooled up to do serious DIY hit the zombies running.
The lawn mower blitzed its way through one then another zombie before
grinding to a halt clogged up.
At
this point our brave SWAT troopers got a shock, the dead pilot who had
been hiding in the back of the chopper made a grab for them. It missed
but it was enough to make them jump from cover. There were a LOT of
zombies heading their way though...
Back in town,
the humans had thrown up some barricades and were making a good fight
of things. One of the hunters armed with a golf club was having great
fun hitting zombies attacking from all sides. Then the cry went up,
the keys had been found!

This was the
call to start heading towards the military base and their means of escape,
the helicopter. Beating zombies back in hand to hand and shooting where
ever they could, they headed out, only to see a hulking abomination
heading towards them, the Nemesis had arrived! This huge beast was part
dead, part genetic weapon and tooled up with a grafted on mini-gun to
boot. Not good..
Several humans
fell to the undead at this point, one of the NBC troopers, one of the
SWAT soldiers, the female city worker and one of cops. It was getting
difficult to live out there. The SWAT soldiers had found themselves
literally surrounded by a horde of undead. One had died, even turning
on his fellow comrade but the other somehow beat his way out and sprinted
for a crate in the scrub land.

Now the Nemesis
looked hard but some wonderful shooting from a hunter's pistol brought
him down in one round. The base was in sight! With a sprint to the helicopter,
the two kids, the doctor and the city worker with the keys reached the
door and leapt inside. The undead pilot greeted them but some swift
kicking and punching sent him flying out of the door. The last SWAT
trooper finally got dragged down, torn apart by a mass of zombies.
A round or two
later, the pistol toting hunter and the TV crew made it as well. The
helicopter lifted off, flying the survivors to safety. Still fighting
in the city were the golf club wielding hunter, the NBC trooper armed
with his trusty lawn mower and the last cop armed with a shotgun and
bag of donuts. It was going to be a long night for them....
